The suspect barricaded himself inside the home and at one point livestreamed on Facebook while armed and speaking with negotiators. Nearby residents reported hearing rapid gunfire, and surrounding streets were shut down as police urged people to avoid the area. A voluntary evacuation was issued, with Paki Hale opened as an assembly site.
Shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday, the suspect and another individual surrendered peacefully and were taken into federal custody. Authorities thanked the public for their patience as roads reopen and the investigation continues.
